He/Him
I am gay and and I am a nurse practitioner educator and HIV care provider.//
Hi, I am passionate about understanding the barriers people experience in accessing quality care from advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs). Currently, I study these issues in Minnesota through survey methodology and work to remove barriers through the legislative and policy work of the Minnesota APRN Coalition.
I also educate future nurse practitioners through my role as a professor at Metropolitan State University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences in St. Paul, MN. I also provide care to people with HIV at the Positive Care Clinic at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis, MN. I am certified as an Advanced AIDS Certified Registered Nurse (AACRN) through the HIV/AIDS Nursing Certification Board and am a current board member. Also, I am a certified HIV specialist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine. I am an elected Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and service on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee of this organization. We are dedicated to ensuring that BIPOC folks have access to quality nurse practitioner care and that the needs of BIPOC NPs are met in the largest NP professional organization, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
