Brandon Chen

He/Him

I am gay and I am a cell biologist and biochemist.//

I am a cellular and molecular PhD student at the University of Michigan. I graduated from Emory University in 2019 with a BS in biology, and moved to Ann Arbor promptly. My current research interests lie in understanding how inter-organellar crosstalk between mitochondria and other organelles regulates cellular metabolism in pathophysiology such as cancer. I am extremely passionate in scientific communication and mentorship with a dream of becoming a principal investigator and professor in the future.

As a gay, first-generation immigrant, and Taiwanese American who grew up around different locations (Taipei, San Diego, Atlanta, Ann Arbor, and more to count!), I am very grateful for having extremely supportive family, friends, and mentors since I came out. I hope my presence here can motivate others with similar identities to know there is a supportive community out there, and nothing is better than being the most authenticate version of yourself!
