I am queer and I am a graduate student and research assistant.//

I am a graduate student in MIT’s IDM program focused on students’ design, engineering, and business education. I also work at MIT’s Education lab helping with research on curriculum development for industry 4.0 skills, reskilling, and upskilling current manufacturing workers and community college students. Growing up in India, STEM education degrees such as engineering was given much importance as there were opportunities for upward mobility in the society, but I have seen a gap in the STEM education which does not provide the necessary skills and knowledge to understand the broader impact of engineer’s work on the society and the people that use these technologies. Hence I am focused on learning and devising ways for every stakeholder to have a seat at the table to voice their concerns when new technologies are developed that affect everyone.
