I am gay and I am a professor in a chemical engineering and materials science department.//

 

I have taught at the University of Minnesota for about 30 years, and have had the chance to work with wonderful students researchers and other collaborators on problems of chemical processes involving nanostructures and microstructures. In graduate school at Berkeley I got to know only a few STEM LGBTQ+ peers through our campus and system-wide student groups (and now married to the entomologist in that group). Now I’m involved in NOGLSTP, oSTEM, and LGBTQ+&Allies groups at UMN, ASEE, and AIChE.
