Adair Borges

She/Her

I am gay and I am a microbiology PhD student.//

I’m originally from Billings, Montana and my introduction to biology came when I started competing in regional science fairs in high school. During my undergrad, I joined Dr. Jon Boyle’s lab (another Montanan!) at University of Pittsburgh, where I studied genome evolution of the brain parasite, Toxoplasma gondii. Now, I’m a Biomedical Sciences PhD student at UCSF, where I work in Dr. Joe Bondy-Denomy’s lab studying the warfare between bacteria and the phages that infect them. I love science, and am passionate about making academia an accessible and welcoming place for scientists with diverse backgrounds and identities.
