Abraham Waldman

He/Him

I am gay and I am a biochemist.

I got my PhD in chemistry with the Balskus lab at Harvard University. I investigated the biosynthesis of a natural product antibiotic, specifically the enzymatic chemistry and biosynthetic logic involved in diazo group formation. For my postdoc I’m working on chemical probe development in Mtb in the Bertozzi lab at Stanford. My scientific interests are motivated by the hope that discovering and characterizing new enzymes and metabolic pathways in pathogens can lead to the development of novel therapeutics to treat infectious disease. Outside of lab, I love hiking, camping, climbing, generally enjoying nature, traveling, cooking, and am a big advocate for the graduate student unionization movement!
