I am gay and I am a biomedical imaging scientist and skeletal mechanist.//

As a board certified radiographer and a PhD candidate at the Ohio State University I have had the opportunity to apply my clinical expertise and interests to a wide variety of research fields. During my time at OSU I have been lucky to conduct research in biomedical engineering, skeletal biology, anthropology, forensics, and injury biomechanics. Not only has this led me to believe the importance of team science but it exemplifies how research is not bound within one discipline and can benefit multiple areas of study.

Currently, my research focuses on the implementation of deep learning and convolutional neural networks for improved image segmentation of bone, using modalities like nano-computed tomography. Eventually, I want to apply similar/modified methods to identify microstructural expressions of bone strength that could be used to better predict fracture risk. I hope to continue my work after graduation in May of 2025 and pursue more prospects of interdisciplinary research as well.
