They/Them
I am non-binary and I am a PhD scholar.//
Despite being lucky enough to have access to school, I was born into a conservative community and subjected to jokes in my teens. I’m a Ph.D. scholar at Radboud University’s Donders Centre for Neuroscience. It took some time before it was realized that the body and the mind do not resonate very well, and so the exploration began.
When I came out to the people around me, I was 26 and independent. Whether it was the age or my independence that caused them to embrace me or whether they did so truly remains to be seen, especially given what would have happened if it had occurred 4 years earlier.
Nevertheless, they agreed, and I sobbed hysterically.
My undergraduate studies in zoology were completed at Delhi University, and I then attended Jamia Millia Islamia for my master’s in biochemistry. After a short time as a research assistant at the National Brain Research Centre, I relocated to Barcelona, Spain to begin my Ph.D. For some reason, I was unable to begin right away, and I eventually found myself in Nijmegen, Netherlands, where I will spend the remaining four years of my time as a Ph.D. student.
Small city, the huge heart is a perfect description of this city, as is remarked with great accuracy. The presence of the queer community here says a lot. When you’ve spent the last 26 years of your life hiding, visibility is all you need.
My lover should arrive soon, I hope.
