They/Them
I am queer and I am a geometer.//
I am an assistant professor/lecturer and UKRI Future Leaders Fellow at the University of Birmingham. I am an algebraic geometer and research questions in mirror symmetry, a mathematical study of the geometric implications of a duality from string theory. I graduated with my PhD in 2014 from Penn. Originally from the USA, I moved to the UK for my postdoc at Cambridge.
I organised the LGBTQ+ STEMinar in 2020 and now serve on the LGBTQ+ STEM project’s steering committee.
In addition to doing math and working on STEM diversity projects, one can sometimes find me knitting in a coffee shop, playing a board game at a friend’s, or hanging out in a random gay bar.
