He/Him

I am queer and I am an entomologist.//

I am a queer PhD student worker at the University of Georgia in the entomology department. I study drivers of beetle diversity in the imperiled longleaf pine ecosystem. Despite 1 in every 4 animals being a beetle, there is still SO MUCH we do not know. Beetles do just about anything you can imagine!

Science is inherently political and we must be mindful of how we use our platforms, privileges, and frame our questions. I’ve had a long and winding journey to accept my identity as a queer entomologist and am so grateful for the community of brave scientists and humans who have helped lead the way.
