He/They

I am trans man and I am a conservation and wildlife biologist.//

My love for biology started in the 7th grade and has grown as I've aged. I took every biology course offered at my high school and attended the University of Minnesota for my undergraduate degree program. I graduated in 2022 with a degree in Wildlife and Conservation Biology. After my undergraduate studies, I worked as a seasonal part-time field tech for the Zoological Society of Milwaukee at the Milwaukee County Zoo. As a seasonal tech, I focused on our wild birds programming, leading avian monitoring efforts on Zoo property. When a full time position opened up, I was able to apply and took on the role of Regional Conservation Specialist. Through my work, I continue to monitor wildlife on grounds, including bats, birds, and insects. I also have learned bird banding, working towards my end goal of eventually getting my own master banding permit. I never saw folks like me in ornithology spaces and I hope to see more trans folks as I continue my professional career!
