He/Him
I am gay and I am a scientific software developer.//
At University of Maryland, College Park, I majored in mathematics and computer science – two fields very interesting themselves but also very useful in various applications. I’ve always been an intensely curious person and I’ve found these fields to be great launching pads into so many other exciting areas of science.
I now work at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where I primarily design software to support climate scientists developing the Energy Exascale Earth System Model. Mostly that has meant working on post-processing and archiving tools, which allows for terabytes of model data to be analyzed and stored long-term. Additionally, I’ve been able to run some of these century-or-longer simulations of not just the atmosphere, but also oceans and ice, amongst other components. As someone deeply concerned with the climate crisis, I find it very rewarding to work in this area.
I’m also on the leadership team for the lab’s Pride Employee Resource Group, where I have helped organize panels and outreach efforts with the local community. I really enjoy queer community building and am happy to connect!
I have too many hobbies and interests to list, but I particularly enjoy reading and getting outdoors.
