Ross Johnston

I am gay and I am a marine science virtual learning education specialist.//

I have the best job in the world: I am the host of a children’s science television show! My role is to translate the current marine research conducted by Mote Marine Laboratory and share it with students around the world. This marine science messaging is delivered virtually, by one-on-one classroom connections as well as broadcasts to international audiences, and includes live science demos, ocean-themed puppet shows, and story times to spark interest in ocean science. As an openly gay man, and a minority, I am proud to be the public face of a science institution. It is an honor to be in high profile position to be seen by and inspire the next generation, regardless of their identity. My goal is to show my audiences to be true to themselves, follow their passions, and let them know they can succeed in STEM fields!
