They/Them
I am non-binary and I am a marine biogeochemist and microbiologist.//
I am a Postdoctoral Scientist at the Gloucester Marine Genomics Insitute (GMGI) researching the natural resistance to cancer exhibited by sea urchins. Growing up by the ocean in Cape Cod, Massachusetts fueled my passion for marine sciences. I earned my PhD in chemical oceanography through the Massachusetts Insitute of Technology – Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (MIT-WHOI) Joint Program in 2022. My scientific training has spanned both academia and industry, and my current research niche reflects a blend of my passions for marine science and biomedicine. I aim establish myself as a prominent expert researcher in the field of invertebrate and comparative immunology, focusing on the evolution and function of the immune system and the role it plays in protecting from neoplastic disease. By working at the intersection of the oceans and human health, my goal is to take the translational discoveries learned from this work and apply them to preventative or therapeutic strategies that can be leveraged to combat neoplastic disease in humans.
