I am trans non-binary and I am a bat biologist.//
I am an acoustic bat biologist monitoring the health of urban bat populations by recording their sonar. Bats within New York City have become a unique focus of mine. I came to terms with my sexuality and gender identity later in life and am at an early stage in my transition. Though accepting myself came at the cost of contact with my family, the organization I work for, NYC Bird Alliance, and the queer community of NYC have become a warm and accepting chosen family. I am now committed to supporting and hopefully inspiring other members of the LGBTIQA+ community interested in conservation. Additionally, I hope that by being as visible of a queer scientist as I can, I can help others accept themselves as I recently did.
