They/Them
I am non-binary and queer and I am an aspiring applied mathematician/network scientist.//
I graduated in 2022 with double majors in math and computer science. I’ve always been interested in using computational tools from these areas to study problems which directly affect human lives, and I was especially interested in problems arising in biology. Before I graduated, I spent a semester as a visiting research student at Dartmouth College studying network models of bacterial populations, which cemented my passion for networks. I’m an aspiring PhD student and I hope to work at the intersection of network science, biology and mathematical modeling in my research career.
Navigating spaces in STEM as a queer person in India has been challenging from the outset, but I have been lucky to find mentors and peers who helped me believe that my identity is an important part of my contribution to academia. I’m grateful for the supervisors who helped me believe in myself and made me feel like I belong in STEM, and I hope I can pay it forward by helping queer researchers during my career. I look forward to working with more amazing LGBTQ+ people in STEM in the future!
