Meschichi Anis
They/Them He/Him
I am non-binary and I am a post-doctorate in evolutionary cell biology.//
My name is Anis Meschichi (He/ Him; They/Them), Postdoc at ETHZ in the department of Biology, in Prof. Bomblies’ group in the Institute of Molecular Plant Biology (Zurich, Switzerland).
Throughout my studies, I have been strongly interested in understanding mechanisms involved in nuclear processes (Replication, DNA repair, transcription) in the chromatin context using microscopy. This motivated me to join Dr. Stefanie Rosa’s group at SLU (Uppsala, Sweden) for my PhD to study chromatin organization in the context of DNA damage and transcription regulation in Arabidopsis thaliana. My current project in the Bomblies group is to study the nuclear challenges that arise after whole genome duplication (WGD) and the mechanisms by which evolution can solve these existential challenges.
On the side, I’m also Klamydia von Karma, a Drag Artist and LGBTQAI+ activist, born in Uppsala’s underground queer culture and now performs in Zurich. My drag is a love letter for acceptance, awareness, compassion, and a manifesto against challenges from an heteronormative society.
