I was in natural-resource science and land management for over 10 years, working toward improved management of invasive plant species. I am working on a career transition toward data science because #kids #mortgage #SFBayArea. My code nerd will go to work, but you better bet I’ll keep doing my plant nerd thing in my free time! I fell in love with the outside world first, then plants, then science. A particularly influential teacher I had was an older queer biology teacher in high school. He was so enthusiastic about plants, and so enthusiastically HIMSELF. Even though my peers thought plants were boring, I always remembered Rog MgGeehee’s attitude!
