He/Him
I am gay I am a neuroscientist.//
I grew up in a town in Northern Italy and started an affair with neuroscience when I chose to talk about mirror neurons at my final high school exam. I was so fascinated with the human brain that I decided to enroll in the Neuroscience program at the University of Cologne in Germany. The affair had turned into a love story and I joined the International Max Planck Research School for Neuroscience in Göttingen, where I started my PhD working on olfactory adaptations in aquatic vertebrates. Like every love story, my relationship with neuroscience evolved during the last years, my flirtation with the human brain turned into an obsession with the neuronal basis of animal behavior. I am currently at the end of my PhD looking forward to how this romance will continue.
I always got a lot of love and support from my friends and family, however as a member of the LGBTQI+ community I felt mostly underrepresented, particularly in a professional environment. I am glad that now I have the opportunity to increase awareness of diversity and contribute to a more inclusive environment myself.
