Krista Bailey Granieri

She/Her

I am a lesbian and I am a parasitologist.//

I am a college professor and I teach microbiology and anatomy to pre-allied health students. I have worked in this field for almost 20 years and I love my job!

I grew up in the SF Bay Area and attended College of San Mateo before transferring to UC Santa Cruz where I studied Anthropology and Biology. I loved anatomy, osteology and physiology. I went on to earn a Master’s degree in Biology at Sonoma State University, where I focused on the Lyme’s Disease pathogen, Borrelia burgdorferi.

Now, I work hard to create supportive and rigorous classroom experiences for my students so they can experience the joy that I do in learning about the way that microbes survive and how we live symbiotically with them… sometimes as pathogens and sometimes in mutualistic relationships.

My hope is that by sharing my experience and passion I can help my students find their path in medicine or science or whatever they dream of….
