He/Him
I am gay and I am a psychology professor. //
I’m a first-generation college graduate, a native of California’s central San Joaquin Valley, and an assistant professor of psychology at California State University, Monterey Bay. I support historically undereducated and low-income people in achieving their educational dreams. I teach research methodology, experimental design, and quantitative reasoning. My research lab examines how people of varying genders, sexualities, races, and ethnicities are photographically displayed in print media. We also study how people think about and use physical space during social interaction. Outside of academia, I work with local agencies to facilitate access and equity in governmental employment processes. We, as educators, must model both compassion and inclusion so that our students implement these qualities in their daily lives.
