She/Her
I am a trans and queer woman and I am a cellular biochemist in the field of cell adhesive and migration.//
I have lived a majority of my life in the closet, but found a wonderful mentor, a University Dean at the time, who supported me in coming out publicly after I was granted tenure. I am the parent of three wonderful children, adults now, who have been incredible with their unconditional love and support before, during, and after my transition. And my loving parents have been my rock of support and stability throughout my life. Most importantly, I am a Dog Mom of a beautiful German Shepard that loves and is always excited to see me.
Currently, I serve as the Vice Dean for Educational Initiatives and Associate Professor of Mathematical and Natural Sciences at Arizona State University and lead efforts across the university to leverage data analytics and educational technology to improve and equalize degree completion.
Prior to Arizona State, I served as Associate Provost for Transformative Learning at Oregon State University and was a member of the faculty 19 years and served as Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs in the College of Science.
My Ph.D. in Pharmacology is from the Neuroscience Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
