I am a lesbian, butch and I am a geology undergraduate.//
I’m an out and proud butch lesbian and ex-sociologist turned MSci geology undergraduate in their 3rd year of study at the University of Birmingham.
During 2017 when I was studying joint sociology/PAIS at Warwick university, my grandmother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, I turned to hiking and rock climbing to cope and discovered that I really love rocks, mainly igneous rocks and volcanoes during a trip to Sicily during the March 2017 Etna eruption. Before she died my nan encouraged me to follow my heart and do geology, I did, and I’ve never looked back since.
I’m still trying to find my groove during these iffy times, but for the most part, I know that I have an unquenchable thirst for outdoor fieldwork, volcanoes and their distal effects, palaeontology and collecting too many rocks whenever our department goes on field trips!
