Hi! I am queer identifying and I am a second year Ph.D. student in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at UCLA.
For my dissertation, I use genomics to answer conservation questions on several threatened and endangered California wildlife species. For example, one of my projects uses whole genome sequencing to assess inbreeding and reintroduction success of California red-legged frogs in the Santa Monica Mountains of Los Angeles. Another project that I’m working on uses genomic data to understand the effect of roadways (such as the 101-freeway) on gene flow and genetic health in California quail. Outside of my academic research, I am working with the UCLA organization, qSTEM, to mentor LGBTQIAA+ students in my field about life and navigating academia as a queer identifying person. xoxox
