He/Him

I am queer and I am a social and behavioral health scientist.//

I am a queer Latino cisgender man, an immigrant from Colombia, and a first generation college graduate. I received my MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and my PhD in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. My research expertise is in studying the role of social support networks in the mental and sexual health of young adult Black and Latino queer men. Through this work, and in using a strengths-based and sex positive approach, I also examine how we can use social support networks to promote HIV prevention tools such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). I am also a Sub-Investigator for several HIV and COVID prevention vaccine clinical trials.
