He/Him
I am gay and I am a botanist, with a background in molecular ecology, who works on plant conservation at a botanic garden.//
I am a queer botanist, studying genetic issues related to plant conservation from protection in wild, to reintroduction. Originally from Australia (Adelaide), I moved to England for PhD (Cambridge, UK) and am now based at the Chicago Botanic Gardens in Illinois, USA. I have always had a passion for plants, and am so grateful that I get to study them every day for work. I get to share my passion and enthusiasm with graduate students (Northwestern, Plant Biology and Conservation Program) and undergraduates in the Garden’s Research Experience for Undergraduate Program, which I have helped run for over 12 years. I am glad to be part of a community that aspires to help educate and diversify the next generation of plant scientists and conservationist.
