They/Them

I am queer and I am a consultant, coach, writer, speaker and artist.//

My graduate degrees are in physiology and cell and molecular biology, but after graduate school I worked in the people side of research and commercialization of medicines and vaccines at a big pharma company for 20 years. I love science, but I ended up loving people even more, so now focus my work and my research at the intersection of people and work, primarily in the life sciences and healthcare sectors. I’m passionate about helping individuals, teams and organizations perform at their best – not according to old school norms predicated on the straight, white, cisgender male experience, but according to progressive, inclusive, human-centric, individualistic norms. I now work as an independent consultant, holistic coach, writer, speaker and artist.

I co-founded in 2017 and am current co-chair of the Proud Science Alliance, a not-for-profit organization focused on raising the bar on LGBTQ+ inclusion across the life sciences and healthcare sectors. I work with a completely voluntary steering team, and we are all passionate about making our sector more inclusive in a way that individuals see and it and feel it.

I grew up in the middle of America during a time when there was little positive queer representation anywhere nor any support within my family, but somehow found my way to be an a very out and open gay, non-binary, demi-sexual adult. At some point I realized I had a platform to speak and advocate and realized, often because of my privilege, I had to take opportunities to stand up and stand out for so many unable to do so. There is still so much we have to do to achieve equity and inclusion of queer people in STEM and society as a whole, and I am really proud I am directly involved in work to help get us closer to that reality.
