He/Him | They/Them
I am gay and I am a applied probabilist.//
I began my time at University studying Mathematics at the University of Chester, 2012-14. Following graduation, I moved to the University of Essex for an MSc in Discrete Mathematics focussing on graph structures. As the final stage of my studies, I moved to the University of Sheffield to pursue a PhD, 2015-19.
My primary area of research is that of growing random networks. More specifically, variations of ‘rich get richer’ methods of growth which incorporate various fitness criteria.
Following my PhD in 2019, I moved upstairs to become the Executive Editor of the Applied Probability Trust (APT). More recently, in 2022, my role grew to include the role of Executive Manager of the Biometrika Trust.
I am pleased to say that I remain part of the School of Mathematics and Statistics. I’m involved in undergraduate teaching, as well as logistical focussed administrative roles. Most relevant to this page, I am the Tutor for LGBT+ Students. As part of this role, I support LGBT+ students during their studies. Additionally to this, I act as a voice for LGBT+ students on departmental committees and in larger conversations shaping the direction of the School.
