After I got my Masters in Physics from the University of Kentucky, I went to work on the Halogen Occultation Experiment (HALOE) at NASA Langley, until there was a contract change and I was told that “I needed to go somewhere more sympathetic.” I was able to get a job at NASA Goddard on the Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) and worked there until they started shut things down. Then I moved over to the Total Ozone Measuring Spectrometer (TOMS), Solar Backscatter Ultraviolet (SBUV) and the Global Ozone Measuring Experiment (GOME) at Goddard. Then found a job with Naval Research Laboratory on WindSat software development. Then moved to a job at DNDO with Department of Homeland Security. But ended up at NOAA working on Jason-2 and Jason-3 satellite projects.
