He/Him

I am queer and I am an ecologist and open science advocate.//

I am a carnivore conservation researcher who is making scientific publishing more collaborative, transparent, and inclusive.

After doing wildlife research for more than a decade, I grew tired of the frustrating experiences in scientific publishing and peer review. Slow wait times, burdensome processes, and expensive costs made it hard for me to share all of my results, and some were even outdated by the time they were published. After talking to many of my colleagues, I learned that this problem goes far and wide throughout the sciences. I knew it was time for a change!

I spent 2 years collaborating with researchers across disciplines to develop a new model of peer review and publishing that is fair, trustworthy, and inclusive (stacksjournal.org). We published our first papers this year and are starting to take off across disciplines. I’m excited about how we’re improving scientific publishing for future generations.
