Ciro César Rossi

He/Him

I am gay and I am a biochemist and a post-doctoral researcher in medical microbiology.//

I’ve been working since the second semester of 2015 as a postdoctoral fellow at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. My team focuses on describing the transfer of antimicrobial resistance genes between a widespread group of bacteria, using experimental and computational methods. As we recognize that our health is directly linked to the health of animals and the environment, we work with bacteria from various sources, such as those isolated from the hospital environment, from infections by domestic animals and coastal waters in Rio de Janeiro.

I’ve always been open and proud of my sexuality. I always knew that I was a good person and a great professional and I never allowed anyone to despise me because I was gay. Luckily, I work in an environment and a city where being gay is no big deal. After a difficult divorce, three years ago, I’ve been discovering myself as a demissexual.

My personal life has always been as important to me as my professional life. In my free time, I usually go out with my friends, go to the beach or play video games. I also love to go out dancing. Ballance is everything!
