He/Him
I am gay and I am a geochemistry graduate student.//
I am a Masters student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I study the differentiation of granites through pressure vessel experiments, electron microscopy and measurements of isotope ratios and trace elements concentrations in minerals from natural samples. Growing up in small town Alaska and rural Central Illinois, I never expected that I would end up in STEM, or that I would be able to go to grad school, or even that other gay people actually existed. I feel that LGBT visibility in STEM is crucial, especially for those from deeply traditional and isolated areas.
