Carrie Boyce

She/Her

I am queer and I am a science communicator.//

Originally from Northern Ireland, I moved to Cambridge, England, to pursue a degree in Biological Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge where I quickly learned I was better suited to talking about science than conducting research in the lab! After graduating, I worked for the University before pivoting into science communication with organisations like the Royal Society of Chemistry and Cancer Research UK.

Eager for life’s next adventure, I moved to Toronto, Canada, in 2017 and have been happily working with RCIScience (and drinking maple syrup) ever since. As Executive Director of the charity, I coordinate novel initiatives to engage the adult public with STEM. In 2022, I proudly received the Special Award for Inclusive Science Engagement at the international Falling Walls Science Summit’s Breakthrough of the Year competition recognizing Science is a Drag, a community-driven, science-themed drag show which aims to shine a light on the barriers to 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion in STEM. It is the MOST fun 🙂 Check out scienceisadrag.com for more.
