I am queer and I am a biomedical engineer and researcher.//
I am a queer, asexual, transgender MD/PhD student. I am also a biomedical engineer by training. I study Osteogenesis Imperfecta as my PhD and have worked clinically with transgender and homeless populations. One of my biggest goals is increasing the accessibility and diversity of biomedical sciences and pushing for a more humanistic approach to biomedical problems. This is driven both by negative personal experiences as a patient and the data demonstrating the importance of social determinants of health. Once my schooling is complete, I plan to pursue pediatric emergency medicine and study tissue engineering and matrix biology.
