I am gay and I am a physicist. //
I’m a professor of particle physics at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, and most of my research takes place at the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, CERN, in Geneva. I’m interested in the fundamental interactions of elementary particles, searching for and now measuring the Higgs boson in Hadron Collider experiments, and planning the future linear colliders CLIC and ILC. Teaching undergraduates, public engagement in STEM, and widening participation in higher education are also important to me.
