Adam Pattison Rathbone

He/Him

I am gay and I am a pharmacist.//

I became a pharmacist in the UK in 2011 after studying chemistry, maths and psychology. I completed my PhD in 2016 which focused on cognitive and social pharmacy which tried to understand why people use medicines in the way they do. I now work as a researcher at a University, exploring medication use in different societies across the globe using robust scientific methods. Two areas of interest include medication use to prevent HIV and promote maternal health during pregnancy. I also contribute to clinical teaching for health professionals training in the UK and overseas, am a registered mentor at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and volunteer at the Great North Children’s Hospital, International Federation of Pharmacy (FIP) and as a Justice of the Peace in England and Wales. My scientific training has given me a way to understand the world and what happens in it, to contribute to society and support work to improve lives across the world.
