Abby Walter
She/Her
I am queer and I am a wildlife biologist.//
I earned a Masters in Biology focused on parental care behavior and breeding home range sizes of red-headed woodpeckers. My passion for wildlife conservation started when I was young and saw a manatee for the first time at a rehabilitation center. While in college, I became involved with the Wildlife Society, local birding organizations, and sought internships to give me experience with wildlife research. I eventually started a graduate program where I finally felt comfortable to express myself freely. My sexuality took a back seat for a majority of my life, but living in a liberal city with accepting peers has been a life changing experience. In addition to saving the planet, my goal is to promote inclusion of others and create a fearless world for the LGBTQIA+ community.
