I am gay and I am an animal scientist/ethologist. //
During my master’s degree in Brazil, I found myself really interested about individual differences in the animal kingdom. I started studying captive capuchin monkeys (finger crossed for my first article ever to be published this year in this topic). Now, as a PhD student in France, my main research focuses on the relation between personality and cognition processes in free-range broiler chickens. Studying animal behavior, and particularly individual differences, helped me to understand myself and others better. Growing up under religion traditions and not having LGBT+ role models was very difficult for the younger me; I hope my story and this campaign reach people who are in need of a word of encouragement.
