I am gay and I am a community ecologist. //
Growing up in the rural American west I fell in love with the wildlife and nature. As I got older, I turned that passion into a career as an ecologist. Currently, I am a graduate student at Simon Fraser University, studying the interactions between flowers and pollinators in oak savanna habitats. My research highlights the fact that higher diversity strengthens the function and connectivity of the whole community. I think we as humans can embrace this notion and acknowledge the fact that diversity makes us stronger, as it does for plants and pollinators.
