I am gay and I am a geneticist and neurobiologist. //
I am a postdoctoral fellow at Rockefeller University studying mosquito behavior and neural circuits. I received my PhD from the University of California, San Francisco, in molecular genetics and evolution of yeast. At both universities I have worked with organizations to increase the visibility and accessibility of established LGBT scientists to people starting their careers. I encourage young scientists to pursue the research they find most interesting and to seek out accepting and supportive environments in which to do this. My goal is to become a faculty member at a research university where I can mentor students and postdocs to make fundamental scientific discoveries and to use science for the good of society. In addition to science I enjoy travel, exercise, and the performing arts.
