She/Her
I am a lesbian and I am an ecologist (population to ecosystem levels) & conservation biologist. //
After 7 years in HIV/AIDS services, I realized social work & I were not meant to be in a long-term relationship. As part of my career shift, I earned a MS from the University of New Hampshire & a PhD from the University of Minnesota, focusing first on water quality then on ecosystem services & ecosystem functions more broadly. As a post-doc, I worked on questions related to ecological restoration and community genetics. I’m currently an assistant professor in the Biology program at Southwest Minnesota State University. Research has taken a back seat to teaching various courses in introductory and organismal biology, plant science, ecology, and conservation biology.
