I am bi and I am a science communicator.//
Hi! I’m Sam and I’m a science communicator and events coordinator. I previously did a PhD in chemistry at the University of East Anglia (graduating in 2018) where my project explored the use of electric bacteria for solar energy conversion. Since finishing my PhD I’ve worked for a science ed-tech company, helped coordinate Norwich Science Festival and volunteered as a City Coordinator for Pint of Science.
Outside work I spend most of my time reading fantasy/sci-fi, baking, gaming and doing gymnastics. Growing up I had very few queer role models and only started speaking openly about being bi after my PhD – so now I’m really keen to amplify and support other LGBTQIA+ people in STEM through Twitter and the events I organise to help increase visibility of the community and show that science is for everyone!
