I am queer and I am a researcher and ND.//
I’ve contributed to research at various academic institutions mostly in the field of mental health, specifically schizophrenia/psychosis. I also have a private practice where I mostly work with patients with mental health concerns. Constantly hiding my true identity at work for years took a major toll on my own mental health so after years of dodging normal social questions like ‘are you married?’ I’ve decided to make a conscious effort to intersect my queerness and my career. I’m working to make my field more inclusive of the queer population which is extremely rewarding on a personal and professional level. Being out in science has allowed me to connect on a deeper level with my colleagues, my community, and some patients.
