I am queer and I am a bioinformatics PhD candidate. //
I study models of sequence evolution at NC State and like so many PhD students, I should be writing my thesis right now. Whoops! I grew up in Alabama and got my BS in molecular biology at Auburn University. When I’m not doing research I’m volunteering at the local LGBT center, playing board games, watching soccer, reading comics, or maybe building a table. I hope that by being out and active in both the LGBTQ+ community and the scientific community, I can maybe make it easier for the next person/generation to take up their own space.
