He/Him
I am gay and I am a marine ecologist. //
I’m a research associate with the Smithsonian Institution and a PhD student at the University of Oregon. I got my start in science at the Universities of Washington and British Columbia and I spend my time diving or thinking about diving in the cold waters of the Pacific Northwest. I’m interested in nearshore food web structure, the relationship between diversity and ecosystem function, and invertebrates. My path to science was a long and winding one, having first worked as a barista, bartender, stage manager, sound guy, and countless other side jobs for the better part of a decade. Returning to school as a “non-traditional” student, I realized that it’s never too late to go for what you want.
