I’m gay and I’m a chemist. //

During nearly 50 years as a science student, chemist, educator, and science communicator, I met very few fellow gay scientists. It was a bit lonely in the lab. However, I’m sure the number was small not because there were few other gay scientists, but because we were hidden from each other. That’s why I think this 500 Queer Scientists project is so valuable: It increases our visibility to each other, and just as importantly, to our colleagues. And that’s why I’m participating.
