I am a lesbian and I am a postdoctoral fellow in neuroscience. //

I’m fascinated by the connections between diet, metabolism/physiology, and the brain. I got my PhD at Washington University in St. Louis, using mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease to study the impact of post-meal glucose/insulin on the brain. I’m now doing my postdoc at UBC in Vancouver, using drosophila to study the neural circuits involved in taste and nutrient sensing. I grew up in rural Kansas with very limited access to both science education and queer culture, so I’ve been involved in science outreach/education and student LGBTQ+ organizations as both an undergrad and grad student.
