I am gay and I am a microbial oceanographer and astrobiologist. //
I study virus-bacteria interactions in sea ice to understand how life survives and thrives in frozen environments on Earth, or how it might survive and evolve in outer space. I also enjoy science communication and love the idea that science can serve as a tool of diplomacy, like we see in the Arctic.
