I am gay and I am an evolutionary ecologist. //
My research focuses on the evolution of plant reproduction. I did my undergrad at University of Michigan and then spent a year doing botany-related field work. I went on to do my PhD at the University of Pittsburgh, and am now a postdoc at the University of Virginia. The stories on 500QS inspire me and I’m proud to be part of it. Coming out to coworkers and advisors wasn’t always easy—I hope that platforms like this help pave the way for the next generation of queer scientists. I like hiking with my partner and our beagle mutt, and am grateful that they entertain my botanizing.
