I am a lesbian (to first approximation) and I am a plant biologist. //
I do research at the intersection of genetics, ecology, evolution, plant biology, and microbiology. My main interest is the relationship between plant genes and plant-associated microbiomes, but I also study the evolution of plant-environment interactions more broadly. Right now I’m a postdoc but starting in August 2019, I’ll be an Assistant Professor in the Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Department at the University of Kansas. My wife isn’t a scientist but she is a really good sport about being married to an academic. When I’m not doing science I love gardening, hiking, watching hockey, and hanging out with our cat and two dogs.
